ADT is decent, but there’s much better alarm companies out there. Watch out for shady local ADT contractors.

ADT has screwed me over and loads of others with their predatory contracting policies. Avoid ADT at all costs!

We called ADT at the end of our contract to let them know we weren’t planning on renewing. They told us we had already been renewed. No notice, no warning. They said “it was in the contract you signed 5 years ago” that we needed to have canceled much sooner. So we’re stuck paying for another year. Predatory? Ya think?

The ADT is like any other big company, charge a lot for and deliver almost nothing. A stadard package is a joke being that it gives you 2 keypad, 1 motion detector and 3 contacts unless you live in very small house that is a joke. You also have to sign 3 year contract at $30-40 a month depending on what package you get. I put in dsc system myself and gone with UL certified monitoring center for $12 a month and no contract. To me it seems ADT is totally not worth for whatt they charge you monthly

Jokes on you. Tyco owns DSC.
February 21st, 2010 at 1:38 am
Yes i am aware of that. It still don’t change the fact that they are charge to much for equipment and montly monitoring premium
February 21st, 2010 at 1:39 am
Oh really, you can beat $13 a month for both phone and cell bac up monitoring? Ye that is what i thought.
February 21st, 2010 at 12:29 pm
You pay a little more for better monitoring. If you can find a UL listed monitoring company with multiple mirrored facilities in different states for 10 dollars a month, that’s awesome. And let’s not pretend that it’s only ADT that charges more. All of the bigger companies charge more than some guy with a receiver in his garage.

Yes all big companys charge higher monhtly fees. It’s because they give big “discount” on their basic package. In reality their basic package is not enough for most consumers. I spend around 1k for my wireless security to make sure that every door, window, hallway is covered by something.

1000 seems like overkill. You must have a really big house. I know I could buy the equipment on my own and it wouldn’t cost that much. I’m guessing you didn’t buy your parts from ADT.

Yes i have a big house near 3k sqft. No i didn’t buy equipment from ADT.
