From the Manufacturer

Whether your home is a single-family dwelling, condominium, apartment, duplex, planned community or a dormitory room, you deserve to feel safe. Perception is not reality when it comes to your safety. Lock Jaw Security 1001 Door Security Device offers an effective and affordable way to protect any dwelling that has a single cylinder deadbolt on its door. Lock Jaw Security has been engineered and tested to prevent deadbolts from being picked or bumped (with a bump key). Lock Jaw is so secure that use of the actual key will still not allow entry to be compromised. Simple, yet effective. Unfortunately, published statistics indicate that over 38% of violent crimes occur at home and over 51% result in physical injury. A burglary occurs every 15 seconds. Lock Jaw is easy to use and literally offers “Security at your Fingertips.” There are no other products on the market that can do what Lock Jaw does. It is made of a high-grade alloy with polished, titanium brass plating and a protected seal to last for years. It attaches only to the door, not to the door trim. By preventing the thumb latch of the deadbolt from turning you are preventing the bolt from retracting back into the door. Lock Jaw is portable–it can be installed with a variety of temporary methods such as double-side stick tape. Lock Jaw works with all of the most common single cylinder deadbolts regardless of the configuration/orientation of the thumb latch. Operation of Lock Jaw is very easy and quick (2 seconds). Children, seniors, ones with moderate arthritis or confined to wheelchairs are easily able to operate Lock Jaw. A simple, do-it-yourself installation. Permanent installation requires inserting two small screws. No templates or locksmiths are necessary for installation. Installed in 5 minutes or less. Achieving ultimate protection, security and safety! Real peace of mind against lock bumping and lock picking, or use of unauthorized keys is now achieved by Lock Jaw.

The Lock Jaw is one of the best home security choices out there. It’s very affordable and easy to install. It makes “bump keys” obsolete (keys that can open any lock of a certain type) by ensuring that the deadbolt stays in place. If a criminal has a few bump keys (one for every general type of door lock) then you can almost guarantee that he/she will be able to open your front door with stealth and precision. That’s pretty scary! But thanks to the Lock Jaw, even if someone tries to open the door with a key made for the lock, the deadbolt cannot retract. The Lock Jaw in conjunction with the “Master Lock Security Bar” will make your front door (or any door with a deadbolt and conventional knob) virtually immune to a break in.

A burglar would most definitely move on to the windows after encountering either of those products, so make sure to get additional locks for the windows as well (and maybe some type of alarm incase they try to break the glass).

Keep in mind that products like this are designed for keeping you safe when you’re inside the house (especially at night when you’re sleeping). When no one is home, you can’t use the Lock Jaw because that would force you to have to break in/out of your own house. Alarms and other security devices are also recommended in addition to this tool. I purchased the “Lock Jaw” and “Master Lock Security Bar” mainly for my girlfriend and two daughters to use when I’m not home. We use them every night so if someone breaks in while we’re sleeping, we’d be able to hear it because they would have to break a window.

My only complaint is the supplied mounting screws are VERY cheap. The screws will get stripped every time, making for a frustrating experience. If you watch the demo video they say that you can also mount this thing with double sided tape or Velcro. I would never use tape just because it would probably be too weak. If you get “locking” velcro, it might stay in place but then you risk the chance of the glue losing it’s grip and then you’re up the creek without a paddle. I suggest using screws to mount it but get good quality ones. I had two extra screws in my tool box that worked, and chances are you do too. If not, you can always go to a hardware store and drop a couple of dimes to get some that won’t strip.

Overall, this is an excellent product. Every door with a deadbolt should have a Lock Jaw, because if the standard lock is so easily bypassed by lock picking and bump keys…what good are they? It’s obvious that todays locks need reinforcement and the Lock Jaw is one of several answers to that unfortunate problem.

Every individual or family needs this security device. Expensive electronic security monitoring devices let you know when someone enters your home, but this device keeps that from happening in the first place. Very easy to install, and you are instantly protected with no monthly fees!

    This product is great!!
I am a stay-at-home mother of 3 small children. When I saw the news cast on Lock Bumping (Lock picking) it terrified me. A bonus feature, is that it also prevents my toddlers from leaving the house without me knowing it. Yet, if we had to leave the house quickly, I am still able to get out fast. Again, a great product…………Thanks!
