Do hardwired magnetic contacts need power at all as their just circuit switches?
October 9th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
they work by closed circut. They do not need power.

FAG OR FAG

He was talking about wireless models which use batterys to report back. Looks like he has a DSC 1565 Classic panel, very basic with 6 zones. So this is why he does not have wireless zones.
And seriously, Most DIY home security is only good for the first break in, cos they then realise it is a joke. Good Alarm system is a Must, Monitoring is optional.

It sound like the optional siren driver module that DSC make….. I had one here somewhere but not sure where it has gone, it had 3 or 4 wires that go to the panel and a screw terminal for the horn speakers.

so, if they just break all the glass out, there won’t be any siren?
November 28th, 2008 at 10:33 am
what good is breaking out the glass, they still gotta raise the window to get in unless they want to get all cut up

there is a glass break or motion sensor

I Love this Video and also I checked out your Channel. Very interesting! If you need any help getting this Video and your Channel exposed to were it is top in all the search I found this site called tubeviews.(net) that has took my breath away. I’m working on my 4th Channel now, this one I just made. My Videos are getting so many hits now. Check it out and keep in touch.
I was skepic about this service, but wow lol, not any more!

no… this one only goes off if the contact is separated… not if you break the glass.

no i ment he probably has a motion sensor on the inside of his house

well if you have security system with window and door sensors there should be a siren because all alarm systems come with a indoor siren
July 28th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
i’ll try to comment on most recent post.
this video doesn’t show anything but a wired window contact. a good quality system is a must, my oppinion. DIY’ers may be able to buy a DSC or Honeywell/Ademco system. they are the most popular choice from the better alarm install companies. Caddax/GE work well too. all should come with a main control box, keypad, battery backup, power supply and good indoor siren with the siren driver built in (to speaker) or built into main control board.

programming can be complicated. be very carefull if drilling holes to run wires, i’ve drilled through water pipes, electrical wires, A/C duct and drip pans and roof shingles before.

I use those types of contacts but only in industrial or commercial buildings because there so damn ugly and visible.
The DSC EV-DW4975 Vanishing Wireless Mini Door/Window contact is super small and hardly noticeable and super easy to install (save you from fishing wire and buying a hardwired zone expander).
As someone eluded to below, these sensors only stop someone from prying up a window to gain entry. You’ll also need a glass break or motion sensor in that zone to fully be protected.

what if you wanna open your window for fresh air?
September 4th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
Can’t you just break the glass? Also if you lock the window then you can’t slide it open anyway so this device is rendered useless if you just lock your windows.
September 17th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
I know u asked this along time ago but u can put more than on on each window
November 21st, 2009 at 10:47 am
u can bypass it
(turn one window off)
or just turn of the whole system
November 23rd, 2009 at 7:06 pm
Some Burglers do know how to pick locks ever think about that locks dont always help for safty
December 4th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
not if they try to use a crowbar to force the window open
